?

Are you happy with Jamie Walker remaining a City Player

  1. Yes give him a 2 year flat contract

  2. Yes give him a 2 year incentivised contract

  3. Yes extend his current contract for a season

  4. Offer him a 1 year deal on improved terms

  5. No, sadly injury prone, there are better options out there.

I've never said he shouldn't? I'm saying that he has to be realistic that there maybe a reduction in weekly salary as a result. As for the broken leg comment, there are tons of jobs where you would be out of work, practically any manual job for starters and most don't get the insurance footballers get, yes it is rare that someone else would do it but there are plenty of people who are regularly off work sick.

As long as Walker keeps injury free, it will be a good signing if he opts to stay

Unfortunately, staying fit is a massive "IF"

It wont be a case of “if” he gets injured. it will be a case of when. I personally want him to stay. I think he is the best technical footballer in the club. One of two players at this moment in time that could step up into League One. We just need to have contingencies in place for who takes his spot in the team when he gets injured, or a Plan B

Walker certainly has the talent like others have said keep him fit and there's no doubt he's a match winner all day long.

I still think he is expensive for what we get out of him. Great on his day but also is out injured a lot and spends some games just limping around kicking people.

But in the 54% of the time he's "at work", he gets through more work and is more productive than others who just "turn up" for 100% of the time. I hope we can do a deal to suit both parties.

I hope a deal will be done as well. But it's a big deal, it negatively effects us when he is out and Alexander stated we need players to play 50 games in a season which is absolutely fair to expect of a footballer unless they get a freak injury. At least if his weekly wage is decreased then we may be able to recruit the quality to stand in when he's out or rotate, I'm confident that's the logic by the club.

I'm in the same boat. I think we haven't triggered his option, to offer reduced terms and he'll shop about to try get a similar deal to what he's on now. Everyone is abandoning ship at Salford, but they still pay well and he wouldn't have to move? Some move like that might be explored.

Jamie plays snooker at a club in shipley that my father in law goes to every weds and he always texts if hes soken to Walker. Although I wouldn't be surprised if by next weds he's already decided on a new destination or re-signed.

I don’t know how these contract extension clauses work. But even though we’ve offered news terms I’d be surprised if the old terms didn’t still stand until 30th of June, so we should be able to still trigger the clause until then or at least by a certain day. Personally I’m confident he’ll stay and hope I’ll be proven right.

Are they abandoning ship at Salford because it must be soul destroying playing in front of two bus loads every other week and the probability that the millionaires are tightening the purse strings because the club isn’t expanding as quick as they hoped?

Just a rumour but that’s what I heard, they didn’t replace that lad who went to WBA who’s name I don’t want to butcher or Zac Bolton. Now Smith and Watt have gone, I’ve heard there were frustrations around the fan base not growing as they wanted it to once they hit the EFL.

One of the factors it seems. A lot of their casual fanbase were uni students at one point, they gave cheap ticket offers to uni students but even they don't sell anymore.

Under EFL rules if a club makes an offer to a player for re-engagement (i.e. new contract) then the player has 1 month to respond, after that time the club can withdraw the offer. Any offers on the table on 30th June will automatically lapse.
If he doesn't accept the new contract or negotiate different terms then I think that's him gone as I don't see us triggering the extra year. It wouldn't be a good look for the club and it would look like we've panicked and given in to the agent.

As you know Steve, it's all part and parcel of Jamie's game.
Change that and you've lost everything about Jamie Walker.
The opposition know all about what he can, and does, do and usually try and take him out (as per Doncaster etc)
For me the lad takes some real tackles (more like hacks) to take him out of the game, is that Jamie's fault if he out injured?

I'd be surprised if we offered him reduced terms. The way he plays means that he is going to pick up injuries, also, he is so good in this division he is targeted. His last injury could have happened to anyone; it was a tackle that a decent ref would have red carded, 30 games from him will produce more than 46 from anyone else we have(if Bobby progresses, this will change) so resigning him is a no brainer,

I’m confident we will have offered a reduction on his weekly wage. If not why wouldn’t we have just taken up the extra 12 months like with Halliday and Pointon? His injuries are partly due to the way he plays, but you can’t take that away from him or it would hinder his game so he’ll continue to pick up injuries.

Sorry, can't go along with that. You don't cut back on your biggest producer.
